Nest begins with 'N'

This week we celebrated our letter of the week by making chocolate crackle Nests.
Team Kea had a lot of fun mixing the ingredients and molding it into a 'nest' shape in the cupcake cases.
Everyone was surprised to find chocolate eggs in their nests when they were ready to eat! Mmmmm our nests tasted delicious!!!

A visit to Mitre 10!

We have been learning about Kotahitanga - working together as one - and we were lucky enough to go and visit Mitre 10 Mega to look at how they do lots of different jobs there but work together to make Mitre 10 a successful place. We had such a wonderful time! Leeann met us at the door and showed us around. Everyone was so friendly and stopped what they were doing to answer our questions and share information about their jobs. We saw forklifts too which were so exciting! When we left, Leeann gave us all a lollipop, a balloon and a drink bottle each. We had such a fun day and learned a lot!

A visit from the firefighters

We have been learning about jobs and how people work together. We were lucky enough to have the firefighters come and visit us to talk to us about fire safety and how they all work together to help people. Here are some photos from the day - we had a great time!

iPods and iPads - fun times!

This week we are having fun learning to use the iPods and iPads!  We have learned to turn the on and off, take and delete photos and play the numeracy apps.  We will also be learning to play the literacy apps and some creation apps too.

Tri-Kids!

We were so lucky to have the people from Tri-Kids come to our school last week.  They taught us how to do a triathlon!  We practised putting on a helmet, walking through transition, riding bikes and running.  Then on Thursday we did a whole triathlon!  First we ran two laps of the pool, then we rode two laps of the court on the bikes and finally ran around the blue flags and through the finish chute!  It was AWESOME!!  We also had lots of support from our wonderful parents.  Here is a slideshow of the triathlon day...

Hi from Team Kea!

Mrs Kitchen is showing us how she can blog straight from her phone so we can have our photos posted really quickly!  Here we are...  and a few seconds later this photo was on the blog!

Thanks Constable Ian!

We have been learning about working together and being nice to each other at school.  Constable Ian has been visiting us and teaching us Kia Kaha which is an anti-bullying programme.  We have learnt about making good choices, helping others, being kind and staying safe.  Today was Constable Ian's last day with us - thanks Constable Ian!  We will miss you!

Maths time!

We have been learning all the maths activites we will be allowed to do when we start the 'Fun Five' next week.  The 'Fun Five' is five activities that we play while our teachers are working with their numeracy groups.  It was great!  Today we got to do bead patterns, sticks and teddies, dominoes, monster mash, cubes and sorting.  Fun times!

Super Writer Genesis!

Genesis is trying so hard in writing this week and got to read his story to Mr Prchal!  We are so proud of you Genesis for showing excellence by trying to be he best that you can be!

Teddy Bears Picnic

Last week Team Kea had a teddy bears picnic after school.  We did this because our letter of the week was Tt and also so that we could meet all of the kids, parents, siblings, grandparents and teachers who make up Team Kea.  It was so wonderful to see everyone there!  The weather was terrible so we had to hold it inside.  We had fruit and biscuits and yummy teddy bear cake!  We also made a tiny teddy mars bar race car to take home.  Click here to see the recipe. Thank you everyone for making this such a fabulous afternoon!
